A Midsummer Night's Dream

By William Shakespeare

A story of order and disorder, reality and appearance, love and marriage: A Midsummer Night's Dream begins with Theseus, the Duke of Athens, announcing that he will marry Hippolyta and that great celebrations are planned. Yet all is not well in Athens and young Hermia finds herself deeply in love with a man her father forbids her from marrying. Together with her love Lysander, the pair decide to flee the city and travel through the wood to a place where they can be together. Demetrius, Lysander's rival and the man Hermia's father has promised her to, follows them into the woods hoping to catch-up with Hermia before it is too late. Demetrius, too, is pursued by his ex-flame, Helena, who desperately hopes to rekindle their relationship. Meanwhile, a troupe of amateur actors also take to the wood in order to rehearse their performance in honor of the Duke's wedding. The antics of the feuding Fairy King and his mischievous servant Puck lead to a great deal of chaos and confusion in the wood!
